VENT

Nowadays, most of us are aware that stress is an underlying epidemic. During Stress Awareness day on November 7 , I came up with a new stress-relief method that I put to trial with some of my current clients, which I called VENT. To my surprise this method far exceeded all my expectations, and its success led me to advertise it through this blog.
It's not hard to understand the meaning of the word VENT or how the method itself works, the hardest part is just answering the following questions:
Who should I vent to? Will they be willing to really listen, understand, sympathize, and successfully help me to ease my frustration?
If I were to approach someone in my family or in my circle of friends, will they truly be able to address my feelings of helplessness or will they instead use it against me in the future? Perhaps most importantly, are they truly capable of being receptive to my ordeal when they are the ones (or are very close to the ones) behind it?
Then of course there's time, availability, and even the state of mind of the person that I engage to allow me to vent, especially if I need to vent more often about a subject, but don’t want to start over each time with a new person who knows nothing about the background or my issues.
We all share the need to find an exit or relief strategy in order to ease our stress and relieve its symptoms, because ignoring them and leaving them untreated will eventually threaten our well-being and make us more susceptible to a myriad of illnesses. By choosing the right venting methods and working alongside a professional mentor, we can better manage stress, lowering it drastically and reducing its impact. Managing stress in this manner protects us from sickness and allows us to enjoy the more meaningful aspects of our lives, without the bitterness and the emptiness we often suffer through and endure due to the daily accumulation of stressful thoughts.
My final words of advice to you in the advent of this holiday season, are to try your best to enjoy each and every present moment, living it to the fullest, and focus on that feeling of magic you experience during a moment of happiness, while practicing mindfulness.
